Outgoing and incoming Kurn Hattin Homes’ Presidents William Abbott and Janet Wilson.
On September 28th, New England Kurn Hattin Homes held its Annual Meeting of the Corporation. During the business meeting, led by Board President William Abbott, elections were held to appoint one Trustee and four Incorporators.
The Board re-elected twelve Incorporators for terms of three years; Michael Blau, Mark Bodin, Ruth DeMone, Bill Fenn, Justin Fuller, Christopher Hackett, James Lynch, Bruce Martin, Rhonda Nolan, William Scarlett IV, Sheldon Scott, and Greg Worden.
Jerry Bardwell, Mark Bodin, Christopher Hackett, Charles Kelsey, and Greg Worden were re-elected as Trustees to a term of three years. Appreciation was given to outgoing Incorporators Philip Caliendo, Paul Clough, Michelle Laurendeau, and Dr. Vernon Temple for their service.
The Board elected three new Incorporators for a term of three years: Anita Carlson-Allen (Registered Nurse from Springfield, Vermont), Elizabeth Perra Chevalier (Head Chef at Brattleboro Co-op), and Amelia Farnum (Development Director at Hilltop Montessori School). Retired Educational Executive and Consultant Terry Holcombe was elected for a one-year term. Bruce Martin, Colonel U.S. Army Retired, was elected as a Trustee for a term of three years. Trustee and Chair of the Nominating Committee, Janet Wilson, and Incorporator Rita Ramirez guided the election process.
Elected as officers and members of the Executive Committee for a term of one year were: President, Janet Wilson of Walpole, New Hampshire; Vice-President, Christopher Hackett of Westminster, Vermont; Vice-President, James Lynch of Walpole, NH; Secretary, Elizabeth Maiola, of Newport, New Hampshire; and Treasurer, Diane Bazin, of Westminster, Vermont. Non-officer Members at Large elected to the Executive Committee for one year were Jerry Bardwell of Middleboro, Massachusetts; and Sheldon Scott of Walpole, New Hampshire. A special recognition was given to outgoing President William Abbott.
Executive Director, Stephen Harrison summarized the successful events of the previous year and thanked the Kurn Hattin Homes staff for their skills and efforts. Vice-President Christopher Hackett congratulated the department heads for meeting trim and efficient budget goals for the second year in a row, without reduction of quality.
Members honored the late Bellows Falls attorney George Nostrand by adopting a resolution that acknowledged their “profound sorrow at the death of George Nostrand, who served with distinction as an Incorporator 1990-2016, Trustee 1993-2011 and Vice-President of the Board 2000-2008.” Nostrand was remembered by Abbott as a “phenomenal friend and supporter, with an infectious twinkle in his eye.” The resolution went on to extend heartfelt sympathy to the Nostrand family.
